Well I ventured into reloading over christmas. I have a stag model 1 in 556 and Savage 30-06,  most of reloading will be for general plinking, but 30-06 will be reloading for hunting.

I had posted a few weeks back about goodies I have. Lee anniversary kit, lymann 1200 tumbler ( have been using crushed walnut media), Lee dies. Pickled up a RCBS powder trickler. I have deprimed, resized, trimmed to length ( +/- 1.52"), chamfered and deburred all rounds.

I  have about 225 or so LC rounds. Bought the RCBS swager tool, but goofed that up and bent the rod, waiting on replacement. So in a moment of free time or two, I used the chamfer tool from kit on the crimp for LC rounds. It did a great job, about 3 or 4 turns and its all cleaned up.

Picked up box of CCI 400 primers from local store and have primed all the rounds, about 225 LC and 220 PMC brass. As a beginning round have about 400 rounds of Rem 55 FMJ from cabelas.   I have yet to buy any powder, I want to make sure I understand exactly what I am doing. I have learned a great deal from this forum, but also enjoy the hardback books as well.

I read the  Lee reloading book. still waiting on ABC's of reloading, its on backorder. Once I have read the books, then I will be buying powder. From what I have gathered here, H335 and/or Varget seem to be the powder of choice.

I may pick up one of each and see how they do in a mix of PMC and LC brass.

Oh this could be trouble. I went down the other day to work on some brass prep and when I came upstairs I found my children had grown up, moved away and some man I had never seen was calling my wife honey...

I had posted a few weeks back about goodies I have. Lee anniversary kit, Lyman 1200 tumbler ( have been using crushed walnut media), Lee dies. Pickled up a RCBS powder trickler. I have deprimed, resized, trimmed to length ( +/- 1.52"), chamfered and deburred all rounds. Not sure what you mean here, 223 should be between 1.750 (trim to length) to 1.760 (max length).

So in a moment of free time or two, I used the chamfer tool from kit on the crimp for LC rounds. It did a great job, about 3 or 4 turns and its all cleaned up. The chamfer/debur tool is a poor tool for removing primer crimp. The angle is wrong and you have to remove too much of the primer pocket to remove the crimp, and there is no stop. A much better tool is a Hornady primer pocket reamer, will only remove the crimp, and has a built in positive stop. About $10, and can be powered by a drill if you wish.

Case on left has had crimp removed with the Hornady SR reamer, doesn't remove any extra metal, other cases just deprimed.

Be sure that the primers are seated .002 to .006 below the end of the case. Any that look high, place on a flat surface, primer down, they will rock if the primer is high.
Checking for a high primer is something I do to every round I load.

H-335 is ok, myself I prefer Tac or BLC2 for my general purpose rounds. For precession loads, I prefer Re-15 or IMR-8208 XBR over the hard to measure Varget.

Lol, and welcome to the Reloading Forum.
