well i took some advice from the other thread and popped for a RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Master Reloading Kit. today i built a reloading table that is VERY solid. i sat on this thing and it didnt even flex. for now, my press is anchored down with some huge coarse threaded bolts. i will eventually drill out the table for carriage bolts. went to the fun store and picked up some powder, .38 sp semi wadcutters, 9mm 115grain ball, and 9mm 115grain hollowpoints. i just finished reloading my first round ever, a .38, and tomorrow i may fire a batch in my back yard.

Welcome, and congrats on a great set up.  You'll love the RC; I've used mine for the last 30+ years, and it still is great.

Nice bench too.

thanks. i am just depriming right now, and already wish i had carbide dies. its kind of tedious to have to lube the cases first. but it does make a huge difference(i deprimed about 30-ish .38 cases dry before i decided to check the book to see if i needed to lube them)

and i am experiencing a strange occurrence. im depriming 9mm, aside from a random .40 s+w here and there, the depriming rod is popping the primers out, but on occasion, it is holding onto  the primers and pulling them back into the casing. i kinda solve the problem by smearing a pinch of case lube on the rod, but it doesnt always fix the issue. any thoughts?

Screw the rod in JUST ENOUGH to pop the primer... maybe that will help.

You have some damn fine gear there... you're off to a great start.

Good times.   For 9mm loads I've found AA #2 to be a great powder.

im using IMR 700-x for 9mm and .38special. i want to use powder, bullets and primers that my local fun shop stocks regularly. i dont want to have to change it up because i was using something they dont normally carry. i made it a point to ask about 4 times if what i got is normal inventory for them.

Look at the tip of your decapping pin.

It should be round with no sharp edges or a point.

If it does have these issues, chuck it in a drill and smooth it out with same sandpaper.

Could also be pin needs to be lowered a little. (adjust decapping stem down, not the whole die)
