I need suggestions on a good automatic that can take a beating and still be reliable.  I don't need anything fancy just something that has a pocket clip and will open when I need it.
Thanks

While I am a Protech Fan I like Godfather/Godson's and the earlier High Polish thin blades....Bad part is these weren't meant for any hard use and Protech figured most people wouldn't carry them.....So they made a piece of art and art they are.

Newer Protech Godfather/Godson have a Thicker Blade to make them more durable and stronger...I have 2 Godson's with the thicker blades, one is an EDC Emerald Jazz/G10 and the other a Walnut and Black.

Protech makes a plain black Alloy Handled Utility version of the Godfather and Godson.

*Note, both the above knives can be found in hte $145.00-$180.00 range if you shop the net. I have never paid even close to MSRP for what would be around $2800.00 worth of Godfather/Godson models

I am waiting on the right deal on the New Brend Auto #2 which is a smaller version of the Huge Brend Auto with I think the 4.5 inch blade.

Microtech makes the best autos available. My EDC knife is a Mini SOCOM Elite and I've been using it for over three years. It's light and sleek yet extremely tough and made of top grade materials.

Benchmade makes some models that are used by our military . While not as fancy or refined as some other makers , they are priced accordingly . They will take an edge and hold it .

FWIW, the OTF knives they are selling for $50-60 are the same ones I see at every gun show and flea market for $10-20.

Note to self, must move to Kentucky, triburst can you direct me to a dealer in KY? I collect OTF's, even the cheapies.

Look at some of the Emerson Knives they make some industrial strength folders as well as auto openers.  Masters of Defense is another brand  for some tough knives.

Masters of Defense makes some nice stuff.  They have a great customer service if you ever need it as well.  When the spring on my tempest fatigued after 7 years of opening I just sent it back and they restored it to like new condition for free.  They even replaced the screw I messed up when I didn't use a torix bit.
