I’ve got a plate carrier that I’ve run through a few courses. Disclaimer, I don’t wear one for a living. However, I do know a few guys that do. Not one of them has suggested mounting a knife anywhere. I’ve been told that if it doesn’t make holes or plug holes, I should get it off my carrier. Food for thought.

Hinderer flashpoint is nice in that price range. 3 inch blade so it's on the small size. If it were me I'd probably get a Winkler Knives Jaeger but that's like $350.

I have an ESEE 4 on the belt for general utility (it gets used all the time) and a SOCP dagger on the carrier in my HS micro rig. The dagger has never been used and I certainly hope to never need it.
I dont consider the ESEE to be a "combat" blade but it's excellent for utility. |

I'd get a Mora:
https://www.amazon.com/Morakniv-Bushcraft-Carbon-Fixed-4-3-Inch/dp/B009O01H0Y/ -Secure, non slip grip suitable for both stabbing and utility work -Superb blade profile for utility work -Lightweight but tough -One of the most extensively proven knives in the world Ultimately, virtually any knife will work fine for stabbing. However, relatively few 'combat' knives work well for utility; typically they have thicker edges, unergonomic blade shapes for cutting, etc. Then shop around for a good kydex sheath. https://armorsheaths.com/products/mora-bushcraft-custom-kydex-sheath |

I don't have a knife on my PC but do on my belt. Its not a "weapon" as much as it is a "tool that can be used as a weapon".
Some good options in your price range ... ESEE 3 ESEE 4 Swamp Rat RMD (but you'll need to buy a sheath ... doesn't come with one) |
|
|
I just checked on Busse Combat's website (Swamp Rat is made by Busse). They have pulled the RMD off. It was a standard offering for a long time. You'll have to find one on the secondary market. Look on Bladeforums.
Last price on Busse's site was $168.95 without a sheath. This was the best deal in the knife world, IMO. |

That Slate blade looks awesome. One day I will have a cool, fixed blade.

I've been told that knives make holes. At least in prison they do.

Glock knife? Made in Austria, cheap, sturdy, multi use. Sheath is hard to used one handed really fast.

OP I like the Gerber Strong arm it’s a great knife for molle, takes up one row, fits behind larger pouches and can clip in with blade facing left or right and is very secure but come out with a quick yank. Very tough and full tang. Great knife for the money and comes with a belt sheath too. |
|
I’d look hard at the Spartan CQB or Benchmade SOCP. It’s not a multifunction knife though. It’s specifically designed to get someone the fuck off you. And in that role I can’t think of anything better.
