| Just picked one up in 308 and was curious on the barrel program from h&r? Anyone done it? Got the camo synthetic version at Dicks for 224+ tax. Looking to add slug barrel for next fall I think. |

I did it years ago on 2 occasions. did a 44 Mag barrel and a later 357 Mag barrel for my 223. took about 6 weeks back then (before Remington merger). I understand the theory of it. But, honestly, for the $150 plus that it takes now, I think that I would just buy a separate rifle. Currently I have a 357 Mag rifle that I reamed to 357 Maximum. If I did another barrel then I would get a 20 guage smoothbore youth barrel and be done with it.
If you do send it in then remove the wood and dont include it. Mine was scratched and chipped when returned. This is easily the most informative site that you will find: http://www.go2gbo.com/forums/index.php/board,126.0.html |

It's more expensive than it used to be. Not only do they charge for the barrel and shipping, they charge to fit it now.
Having a new barrel factory fitted can cost almost half or more of a complete rifle. Used barrels are the way to go if you can fit it yourself. |
