ok the rundown

im full length resizing some once fired 338 lapua brass(lapua brass), it looks like about half of the rounds that i have resized are requiring more ever to turn down the bolt.

these rounds chamber fine but when working the bolt it requires a little more effort. ive checked and rechecked the die to ensure its clean and set correctly, ive taken some measurments regarding overall length and the seams to be nothing that jumps out as odd with the tight group.

i believe that i may have a case head space issue and am considering picking up some redding compition dies to possibly address that issue

the rifle in question is a custom 338LM on a surgeon action with a krieger barrel,

ive been reloading for about 4 years now and this is the first time that i have experienced something like this.

any insight would be appreciated

Had similar issues with a Savage Tactical .308 bolt gun.  Just had to turn the die down a little bit more and bump the shoulder back a tad.  It's was kind of strange since the brass and loaded ammo looked good in the case guage.  Now both really "hit bottom" on the case guage.  But that fixed my issue.  The ammo shoots well and I don't see any issues with fired brass.  Good luck.

Have you measured fired cases to find out how far the shoulders need to be set back?  Will your die and shell holder set the shoulder back that far?  How are you measuring the cases?  Does the rifle have a minimum dimension chamber?  How about the neck, was the barrel chambered with a tight neck that requires turning?  How does the headspace length of the fired cases compare to a new unfired case or a factory cartridge?
