I want to remove the PWS comp and replace it with an A2 (for now), for thiose that have replaced the OEM comp, is the procedure as simple as placing the upper in a vice and tightening it at the rails at 3 and 9 o'clock?

My factory pws break on my scar wasn't that tight. It's also a different diameter for the wrench flats than a standard ar. I just put rifle between my knees and used a wrench.

I just stuck it between my legs and wrench down on it, with a vice it should be a breeze.

I used 2 decent sized crecent wenches, it came off easy as cake.

Thanks - your right it came off pretty easily.  I wrapped the upper in a blanket and had someone hold it, and it come off.  Funny can't seem index the A2 nicely. Any tricks?  flipping the washer either way always has off center...

I'm not sure on that one, I'm pretty sure mine torqued on center without issue...

Was curious...for those that have replaced the comp on the 17S for a regular flash hider...what's the recoil and muzzle flip like with just the flash hider?

I just popped the barrel out of the upper. The barrel extension has big flats on it and fits in a vice nicely.

Why risk twisting the upper?

I have an A2 FH on both my SCAR 16 and 17. The recoil/ muzzle flip is negligible on both.

Recoil is still minimal. The change in CG from the bolt carrier moving moves the rifle more than the recoil.

Great, minimal recoil without a comp takes this rifle completely out of the range-toy category.  Very good to know, thanks.

Op. You just need to use a new crush washer to get it to index properly.
