The usual method is to use a machinist "Center finder" to locate the 12:00 o'clock top-dead-center of the barrel, then drill and tap a hole for the bead. After screwing the bead in, the excess length is cut flus with the inside of the barrel, then polished smooth . This is usually a good job to let a pro gunsmith do for you. Another method is to soft solder a new Remington-style base and bead on the barrel. You can get these from Brownell's. They attach by "Sweating" the base on with soft solder, or using the new "Black MAX" bonder they sell: |

What length was the barrel you cut, because I thought I read on here that if you cut down one of those 28 inch barrels the rib is gonna be to high or something, but what do you need a bead for? people actually use those? its a point and shoot gun, let the reflexes do the work. |
