| Are the blade kits from them any good? I'm trying to find something to kill time while I'm unemployed and figured i'd try my hand at building a couple of knives. |

Some of the kits are really good. Others are 'meh'.....you can usually tell which is which by the price. (they also tell you what steel the kit is made from in the descriptions––with a little research, you can figure out what will work best for you)
I've done a couple of the AUS-8 Delta series and they've held up very well as working knives. I did one of the 154 Crucible CQB knives while I was deployed in '08. (I didn't know that these were 'Cuda CQB blades bought from Camillus––-very good steel, and turned out to be one helluva good deal. $200 knife for $95 and a few hours of my time)
here's a random pic of an actual Camillus I found on the web http://www.guns.com.pl/cqb1.html Knifekits.com is one of my favorites......they're a little more expensive than others, but they ship fast and they carry everything you'd ever need to build from a kit. They're my 'go to' source for Kydex, replacement springs for my auto knives and knife kits. |
