I have been using this die to crimp well possibl 500-1k rounds, came home tonight from my girl friends and though i would finnish loading the last 5 bullets i have and then crimp the 60 rounds i have in my bin ( using a single stage press ).

so i start to crimp and buckel the sholder as showin in the pic, i raise the die up and down  nothing works, so i am thinking maybe the shoulders didnt get set back far enough ? i am clue less though

Is the collet free to move inside the die, or is something jamming it?

That is it. You should see the 4 cuts on the collet slightly close.  If the collet is jammed in the die, the mouth will stub on it and the press will force the shoulder to collapse.

Looks like the collet is jammed.

I suppose it's also possible your trim length is way to long.  The FCD shouldn't do that, but a regular crimp die will collapse a case like that if the brass is too long.

it was stuck, i hit it with some 3 in 1 oil and reset the crimp and got all the ammo done, curious to know is their a way to take the collet out so i can clean the die and inside and out of the collet ? i noticed a little  junk around where the collet slides in and out of the die  and would like to clean it and put some frog paste up in it

Pull down the load, resize, and start over.

FCD is not critical to trim length.

Now, on the cleaning/lube of the FCD, the collet can be pushed out, from top to bottom as installed in the press.  A split ring secures the collet with light friction from coming out. There is a tiny shoulder in the die base.

Agreed.

Are you sure this didn't happen when you seated the bullets?

Yes the die can be taken apart. I disassembled all of mine, then cleaned and POLISHED the insides. I then lightly lubed and reassembled
them.....all work smoother now.

When the shoulder buckles out like that you pretty much have to scrap it, or convert it to 300BLK
