i saw the M1 conversion for th 10/22 on rimfire central and i really liked it. Plus my 10/22 was in need of cosmetic changes to up the fun factor
Before

Almost done. My dad wanted me to keep the original finish but the stock from CTD was in bad shape plus I like OD and had some filler to conceal. Wainting on butt plate and hardware and a barrel band. And need to do a final bedding. Reciever is coming out the bottom. Hey its my first time not doing a drop in somethin or other.

Pretty slick, I might try that since I can't find one of those underfolder stocks.

Edit:

I didn't see the thread.  Was the conversion complicated?

Ill post more pics in the morning. I recieved the barrel band and installed it. i thought i had ordered just the barrel band but it had the bayo mount. couldnt get the rivets out so i cut her down. I used jb weld and loctite fill putty for bedding. I lost the takedown screw from under the reciever. anybody got one? midway has em for.99 cents but shipping is like 5 bucks. Sights are tech sights. here the link to my inspiration.

I don't understand why we can't get someone to make that as a Kit. They can make all kind of AR15 wannabe crap that doesn't even mimic the real gun all that well but when you have a nearly direct replacement for the Carbine/ Garand nobody can get off their butt and make it happen.

Kudos to you sir.

Had i not had a dremel and the tools i needed to do this, i would have bought it as kit in a heartbeat. If anyone made it that is. If i could get my hands on one of those machines that duplicates stocks, i could probably figure it out in a few days. Okay heres the current pics.
The barrel band has been attached. It caused a little scuffing to the barrel but i plan on refinishing it some sort of very flat black.

The reciever i is no longer falling out the bottom. Im still sanding and filling constantly. I want a drop in changeover form a factory stock. I want it to look like it was made this way.

The areas where the wood has been exposed are areas that the paint identified. The paint showed where the fill putty was not smmoth with the wood so i had to keep sanding and filling.

I need to fill in along the sides of the magazine well.

I'm going to buy a 10/22 this week.

Did you remove any material from behind the receiver?  I'd like to use an A1 folding stock for one.

Sort of. ive not used a dremel for so long. i know i removed way more material than i needed to. On the back reciever ind i sort of just had to flatten it out and then i built it up with filler. That was my own preferance as i was not going to keep that screw from the actual m1. I was in a hurry as i was really excited to get this done. At this point the best advice i caan give is to constantly check the fit of your action and time your time.
