| I recently purchased a brand new FN SCAR chambered in 308 it will not grab rounds from the mag and the ones that it did grab either failed to extract or misfired so far out of 60 attempts to fire it it only worked 3 times I have ruled out ammo but has anyone else expierenced anything like this or know what it might be |

First; If you do really think you have a problem then FN (Browning) has a no questions warranty on all rifles. Did you strip all the goop off of every single part of the rifle and bolt before you fired it? I am on the FNforum all the time and have not heard of any real problems with others SCAR 17s or mine. Please add pictures and video of the problem. I would love to see this. |

Does it hand cycle? Did you switch your gas regulator? If not I would switch it to the high function position. What in the heck is the "high function position"? I do not have such a thing on my SCAR, I have a normal and suppressed setting. You must have a more tier 1 version than me OP, What ammo and what mags are you using? I assume the mag you are using is the factory supplied version but recently have seen someone trying to pass off spray painted FAL mags as SCAR 17 OEM mags. Also to clarify, is the bolt completely missing the round as it tries to feed or does it lodge the round against the feed ramps? |

Can you take a picture of the rounds in a magazine, and a picture of the magazine in the rifle with the bolt locked back looking in the ejection port?
I'd like to see the position of the rounds in the mag in case someone assembled the mag wrong, and I would like to see how they look facing the barrel extension. If you manually drop a round into the chamber will the rifle fire and extract the case? |

Clearly something is wrong. |

As long as the gas selector is in ether of the detent positions it will work correctly without a suppressor. I dont have a suppressor to try it with. I don't know about the 17s, but that is definitely not true on my 16. If it's in the lower suppressed position the gun won't cycle properly without the can. |

On mine, it will cycle (but sluggishly) in the suppressed position using full 5.56 pressure ammo. It will not cycle .223 pressure ammo in that position. |
yesterday at my local range, met a guy who just received his brand new 17s and have not shot it yet. but he followed the owners manual very closely.. he mentioned about cleaning it thoroughly as per the manual. took a while, but envtually finally got to shoot it, what i noticed he had no major fail to feed/eject/fire etc.... the only thing that kept us puzzled was the one mag it came with, noticed when he loads up to max of 20 after 3-4 rounds fired the mag will just drop out. so told him just load 10 and see, sure enough the mag never dropped. but still i advised him to call fn and let them know about it. kinda sad such a nice rifle comes in a cardboard box an 1 mag at least they coud have done is painted the whole thing

the FDE mags are much more accurate then the black ones and they don't issue all FDE mags to nubees they can't handle it damn your right, you must have one. cause the FDE mags always hit their target every time it falls out.....cant seem to miss the ground. its unfortunate the accurate FDE mags you talk about cant handle the .308 probably gets scared and wants to run away. i hope these mags are not issued to our troops when in harms way cause well......you know |
