I love Minis, but that thing is just fugly.  And I am a strong opponent to ARizing Minis and AKs for that matter.

I see it uses Ace's folding mechanism, I'll pass.  Ace reversed the great FN pattern and put the socket on the stock itself (FN pattern has the socket on the receiver), resulting in an awkward stock to fold, and it's bulkier.

If any of you like this rifle, check out the Accuracy Systems Inc. Urban Brawler
www.accuracysystemsinc.com/ruger_mini_prices.html scroll down to see it.
They claim MOA or better with this setup. I think it could provide a viable alternative to an AR15.
I think some of thier Mini 14's are actually superior to some AR's...IMO, the urban brawler isn't one of them... They are building a custom Mini 14 for me. Its a "new" stainless Mini 14 which they will convert to 5.45x39 and add an HBAR and adjustible gas block, bed the stock and improve the trigger. It will be configured with the standard GB flash hider and bayonet lug front sight, so it will look just like a standard GB but with an HBAR. They are saying 1.5 MOA or under, depending on the ammo...which will be the weak link in accuracy for this caliber. Fortunatly, 5.45 will feed from standard Mini 14 magazines. The Mini 14 isn't capable of going head to head with an AR from Ruger but with some warming over, it provides an alternative which can eclipse the AR's performance. Hopefully this will challenge those who have dismissed the Mini as inaccurate and inferior to think differently...

It's not an EOTech, it's either a JPointo or Docter red dot sight, EOTech would have been much bigger

It looks interesting.

I think a stock like the SAGE for the M1A's would "look" better on a Mini-14.  They share a lot of the same lines, plus I like the looks of Sage's collapsing stocks.

Is the gas block just hidden from view, or is there a new lower gas block machined into the stock?  Now that would be inovative.  I am aware the Amega ranges rail replaces the upper half of the gas block.

How is the accuracy?

If I had the talent and machine shop I would make a new gas block/rigidty strut/flash hider.  basically this would be one machined piece of metal (or welded together for solid finished product) that would pin on the muzzel and would pin at the gas block.  So a new gas block that tappers to a rigidity strut that "L's" out at the end to pin on where the old front sight was.  This would stablize the barrel, and allow you to have a less violent action if you designed the gas system a bit weaker.  You could add rails at 3 and 6 if you wanted.  Add a Ultimak or Amega scout set up and you'd have it covered.

I figure pinning the muzzel and the barrel with a solid hunk of metal would get rid of that whip.  I just wonder how much it would improve things?  Not having done research I think someone could do it for ~150 each?  I don't know....random idea of the day...
