i am so proud of this rifle, i cant wait to take it out to the range and try it out!  this was my first lower assembly, and i got it together and it clicks and resets as expected.

im into this rifle for about $550 so far.  (ETA - NOPE... see below)

i got the lower in the summer time when they had the $250 deal for a lower and 10 pmags (so i justify about 119 of the $550 for that).  i got the upper for black friday sale for 270, and the BCG for 109. the handle is a "colt" from ebay (hopefully a colt, at least ), and the charging handle i already had.

cant wait to take this KISS carbine out and get it scuffed up!

ETA: requested: parts/price list

lower: $119, PSA M4
upper: $269, PSA upper kit (no BCG no CH), 1/7 CL HF barrel, supposedly made by FN?
lower parts kit: $50ish, a bag of parts off the wall at Gun Masters in Plano, TX
BCG: PSA, $109
Carry Handle: Colt (supposedly, hopefully?), $55, used from Ebay.
Charging handle and 4 position Stock, i already had.

OK so my math is terrible.  because thats $602.

there have been better sales, and other options since i bought this kit.  the upper kit could have been as low as $179 from PSA.com.  OR, the same Upper with BCG and CH (Blem) could be had for $359 now.  the single stripped lower could have been $49 (Blem).  with the PTAC upper and the blem lower, you could be starting at $239 before BCG/CH/Parts kit.

Sorry, I was deducting $119 for your 10 P-Mags from your $550.  Still, damn good.

Nice rifle!! For $550 there should be plenty left over for some ammo!

the scary part is.... PSA had lowers for $49, and uppers for $179.  something in the 350-400 range is totally feasable now.

well, here we are!!  i adjusted windage some, but i didnt have a front sight tool.  i might just leave it where it is, and call it "200".

completely JAZZED with this budget build!  if only i could go back 3 years :)

Palmetto makes great parts and rifles cheaper and better quality then some lower quality rifles priced at much, much more.

Are we having fun yet?  Good stick.  Now the disease sets in and you just keep buying parts.

the rifle is very solid, and the slop and rattle between the upper is very minimal, its equal or less than my SBR which is a bushmaster lower and BCM upper.

it feels completely GTG, i hopefully will have a range report tomorrow night :)

Awesome.  Assembling it yourself is so much more intimate than just buying it off a shelf.

I actually had the most trouble with the trigger guard roll pin on mine, I couldn't get it to line up for the life of me...but the bolt catch was no problem. Go figure.

AGREE WITH THIS.  By the way, I bought a complete kit during black friday from PSA for $379.00 and I got a lower from Centerfire for about $51.00.    When I get around to assembly, I will be in this same price range.   The only downer is that, although my barrel is 1x7 twist, it is not chrome lined.   Still......it will be nice to have a cheapie that I don't have to cry over if it gets a scratch.  I also wanted a cheapie that I could spray paint in camo.

Great rifle for the money. You have already learned what a lot of us know, you can build a decent rifle for less money with a little effort. As for a front sight tool, the front sight is designed to be adjusted using nothing more than a nail or even the tip of a round of ammo.

can we get a parts/price list for those of thinking of doing a similar build?
