I am looking at getting into reloading ( i bet alot of people will be since the bs of ammo prices this year). I normally shoot 9mm and 5.56 mm. I am looking into also purchasing a 300 blackout upper for my collection. My question is, are the 300 blackout rounds ( supersonic) the same exact bullets as 7.62x39mm AK ammo? The reason I am asking is if I can purchase bullets for both 300 blackout and a AK47 then having multiple rifles using the same bullet is a win win (minus the fact they have different brass). I am trying to keep most of weapons in the same ammo types. That is why I only have AR`s (looking to get either a 7.62x39mm upper or 300 blackout upper or both. Thanks for your input.

I'm sure someone with more experience will be along soon, but my quick research shows that .300BLK uses a .308 bullet while the AK uses a .312 bullet.

So, unfortunately they are not the same projectile.

so it would be a good idea for me to invest in a 300 blackout and a 7.62x51mm rifle hmm interesting. Basically if I am going to be reloading 300 blackout I wanted another weapon that rifles the same bullets. I thought the 7.62x39 was the same round but i wasnt sure.

If you want a 7.62x39  with a .308 bore it can be done.  There may even be a few ready made x39's with the .308 bore.  I have a custom built Ruger Mini-30 with a .308 bore.

i was only really looking for 300 blackout but i was wondering what the 300 blackout rounds could be loaded into other then 300 blackout for future builds.

The 300 Blackout rounds can only be loaded into 300 Blackout and the 300 Whisper.

But the "bullet" for the 300 Blackout can be loaded into dozens of cartidges that take the .308 bullet.  30-06, 30-30, 300 Win Mag, 300 WSM, 300 Savage, 30-40 Krage and many more.

in a pinch, you can use .308 bullets for 7.62X39, but accuracy suffers.

from what I have read, that is the big issue with SKS and AK accuracy with some of the "premium" ammo.
