Most that say "Flat Tan" are going to be your best bet.  I can say that I looked for the same thing and came up short.  Engine Paint and Grill/BBQ paint are your choices.  Anything else will burn off or, at best, discolor.

How would you paint it without covering up the identifying marks?

Cerakote works fine unless you get it really hot....

The same way you'd paint a firearm receiver without covering them up - with paint.

The markings are engraved. They don't disappear if you paint them.

I have had pretty good luck with Aervoe spray paint.  Has not burned off or changed color.  That being said I am sure there are better options out there.

Use the C-series air cured Cerakote, it's suppose to be high temp good up to over 1000 degrees. I had mine done with it, but haven't had it long enough to see how it will hold up over time. But did hold up well over this past weekend, but I only put about 60 rounds down range.

Pretty sure it's what a few MFG's are using right now on their cans.

Aerovoe or Krylon discolor after getting REALLY hot and turn orangish, but you can always just hit it with some acetone and brake cleaner and repaint if you're worried about it being pretty.  Anything is better than black.

Both of these posts. Can't wait to get my 12th Model; I'll probably paint it before I shoot it, lol.

If its an aluminum can to paint you need self etching primer to hold strong. Auto Stores sell it for about $7 a can. Duplicolor, usually I can only find it in OD Green, but after laying down the primer any of the $3 Krylon Krap will stick better and longer.

My 12th has been hot as fuck quit a few times and still looks good. It is painted with both of those.

A word of caution though. You will leave finger prints in it when it is hot.

Krylon FTW.

If you get it hot enough, it will discolor, just as the original finish would. Plus, seasons, moods and terrain change. Krylon can be acquired anywhere and changed easily.
