how do you guys know your stuffl will fit on your rack? I can't find out if my loadout is going work ( manufactures really should put how many rows of pals it takes for a pouch) if any of you guys have a pouch I'm about to list sound off with how many rows or channels it takes. thank you very much!
TAG m60
Emdom bomb
blackhawk nalgene pouch
hsgi nalgene pouch

for those that may ask, I'm running this on a esstac boar harness( 20 channels or rows of pals)  with internal mag pouches. load out is as follows from left to right: nalgene(?), emdom large stacker, TT 3 mag shingle or a specter gear medium horzantial GP pouch(or both depending on mission) rolly polly, 2 frags and a mm cocoon. right side nalgene(?), bomb?. TAG m60?, single smoke. on the back I'm going to run a PPM back pocket( in my mind to replace the buttpack), blackhawk packteen, popflare pouch.

if you can find pics of the front of the piece in question, that is usually how many columns it will take up. generally speaking, a lot of things like the EMDOM bomb and some of the nalgenes will take up 4 columns.

follow me here

each PALS channel is approximately 1.5" wide

most M4 magazine pockets take up 2 channels across

pistol mags usually 1 channel

nalgenes shouldnt take up more than 3 channels

most admin pouches no more than 4 across unless purpose designed to be bigger, then its no more than 6 channels across

I have used the the tape meaureing thought process but it is approxament. take the nalgene pouches, the Tag pouch is 3in and uses 2 rows( 1.5 in) but as I recently found out the Blackhawk nalgene pouch uses 3 rows. one would assume a nalgene pouch is a nalgene pouch. granted I couldn't find the specs for the pouch on blackhawks site. i have estimated  the bomb to be 4 channels 7in wide but yet ( 90 percent sure) the tag M60 is exactly 6 in wide that means exactly 4 channels. my point is 7 in wide is 4.6 channels. with an extra .6in over hang, whats the overhang on the tag pouch? so it may be only 3 channels.

not all nalgene pouches are created equal

ROWS are the 1" wide webbing bars

CHANNELS or COLUMNS are the 1.5" gaps sewn/bartacked onto the ROWS

ROWS are separated apart by 1" or in some instances they can be abutted together.
