hi guys, new guy here, thought I  would come to you guys for some advice since no one here knows anything about it,  I recently got a grey ghost gear plate carrier and didn't want to spend $850 on plates from them so I found a guy that had protech lvl III plates for $250 shipped.  They are new old stock, just wondering if anyone knew anything about them, I can't find much on them online, I'm looking for standalone plates, trying to go lite as possible with the most protection and value, or if anyone has any other suggestions that would be great,
Thanks
Josh

You can try looking up Hardwire level III+ plates. They only weigh 4.25 pounds a piece and go for about $190 a pop. A bit more expensive than that deal, but worth a thought. I just got a pair in and am very impressed with them.

never heard of them. Google the manufacturer or even call them for additional info.

I've never used Protech plates but I think they're owned by or they've  partnered with Safariland. They're a known brand so I would say they're good to go but I personally would be careful buying plates second hand.  You might be able to get in touch with Protech and see if they can give you more info on that run of plates.

Protech is Safariland and they generally make very good stuff. Avoid their lower-end lines made from steel and fiberglass and you should be fine.

Hardwire is traditionally a pressing company and is just recently starting to try their hand at armor plate production. I'm sure that makes their existing clients "happy".
