my step dad wants a suppressor for his 16" CAR AR15 after shooting my 9mm sbr ar with MK9K and im wondering if you guys can help me. Hes wanting to spend as little as possible. he hog hunts mostly with it and cant stand wearing muffs while hunting or blowin his ear drums out without. so im wondering if he might be happy with a TAC16, a Triple x Warrior, or a M402 pirahnna, or a Ranger 2. he wants something that will not ring his ears when he shoots.
Any thoughts and comments are welcome
Thanks,
Jeremy

I don't have any experience with any that you mentioned I have seen the Ranger 2 and for the price it isn't bad.  Have you considered the Yankee Hill Machine (YHM) Phantom.  The thread mount one is $460.  YHM always seems to get high marks for your money.

actually i saw where major-malfunction sells the YHM QD SS phantom for 499 that sounds pretty good.
Thanks

I paid $495 for my SRT Hurricane, and Al Paulson tied it for first place with the AAC M4-2000 in decibel reduction.

the SRT hurricane for thread mount would be a good choice.

for a fast attach, the YHM cans can't be beat for price vs functionality.

To get good suppression and low price, he's going to have to give up light weight / small size.

Will you be able to make it to a local suppressor shoot? That would be the ideal place for him to see how different models work, fit and sound.

ive told him 5 times at least to wait for a shoot thats suppose to be coming up in october in tyler to get some trigger time with some but he says he cant wait and doesnt want to cuz of the upcoming election and fear of blah blah so whatever i tried. anyway, im thinking its prolly between the Tac16, triple x warrior, or mayyybe aac m4-1000.
thanks for the replies.

got an offer for a Gemtech M4-02 lightly used in my state on a Form 4 for 250 what do yall think? will it suppress safely?will it ring my ears?sounds like a good price but i just dont want him to end up with a can hes not happy with. he says he wants a suppressor cheap as possible that will make his gun sound like a 22.
THANKS

he's going to be disappointed by the 223 can, if he's expecting it to be quiet.

it will be hearing safe, if it's a good can. cans like the XXX warrior and the tac16 may not be hearing safe on all guns.

they are still loud. sounding like an unsuppressed .22LR is not quite right, but a close enough comparison.

YHM Phantom is a good can for the cash.
