Came across an auction a couple weeks ago on ebay that was a lot of random items, one of which was an IR laser module.  I have it pictured below, nothing more than the silver module and the power/ground leads coming out of it.  The seller said it was IR and that it powered up great with the old paq-4 power supply he had.  I am not well schooled on this kind of stuff but thought it may be a fun project.  The sticker has various wavelength and power ratings, but none of the boxes are checked indicating which of each this particular module is.  Anyways, couple questions about it.  Does anyone know for sure what power this thing would be given it's size (or does the size of the actual module have little to do w/ it's power rating)?  Also, will I be able to just hook this up to a couple alkaline batteries and expect results, or will i need some special power supply?  Not sure if any of you gents have ever opened up an IR laser or not (i haven't obviously), but if you have seen something similar to this before I would very much appreciate some info as to what it came out of and what approx power rating it is.  Thanks.
