can you buy the liquid to dip the bullet tips into to make your own tracer rounds?  they are fun to use every now and then, but spendy.  where do the big companies get the liquid to dip them in?

The tracer compound is a solid inserted into the back of the bullet.  The red tip is simply paint so you know it's a tracer.

Ever seen a road flare?  A tracer is a bullet with a tiny "road flare" in the rear.
