I mounted a ARMS #18 on my M1A and a Leopold VX-2.  My rifle zeros fine with the iron sights.  I took the M1A out to the farm with the scope on and started out at 50 yds.  Had to move the reticle quite a ways left to get the bullet on target.  Moved back to 100yds.  ran out of adjustment to the left.  I followed the instructions with the #18 when I mounted it.  I want to think the scope is just fine.  I must have screwed something up mounting the #18.  Any suggestions?

Every time I have had problems like this it turned out that mis-alignment of the mount was the cause.
IIRC, the rear of the mount is secured in the dovetail in the receiver exposed by removing the stripper clip guide.  It is not unknown for the male dovetail (the one supplied with the kit) to be a wee bit oversize, and thus fit too tightly in the female dovetail on the receiver.
Remove the mount, and check that the male dovetail is not hanging up off-center.
If it does, the general fix is to file or stone enough metal off the widest part of the male dovetail so that it will center.  There are also two small flat surfaces running the length of the male dovetail; it is possible that some small amount of metal might have to be removed from these surfaces as well.
The idea is to remove just enough metal so that the male dovetail fits and can move around a little bit prior to it being finally tightened and locked in place.
You ought to call ARMS or the vendor to confirm that they approve of this procedure.

Thank you.  I'll have to dig it out and check it out.  I took it off the rifle.  I pay the price to have the "best" and this is what I get.  Glad I don't own any ARMS stuff for my AR's.  GG&G all the way!

The ARMS is a quality unit.  Their mount is made to fit the M1A, but sometimes dimensional variances dictate that a part must be fitted to work properly.  Your money was not wasted.  A little work on your part, and you'll be all set.
