moving so I need to get rid of about 30-40 guns
What's the best way to do this, auction, consignment, gunbroker? Looking for best return but cant wait forever. Any info will help!! |

Although not moving, I am doing the same with about the same number. Luckily I have a fantastic relationship with a local store that does quite a bit of biz on Gun Broker and a good presence in the arena .
Although I have a GB account I am paying them a % of the sales to handle the sales for me. Honestly, the biggest benefit is the liability release of them doing the transfers and paperwork for me. |

Put one post up in pistols with your pistols (I'd list both individual prices as well as a collection price), and the same thing with rifles/carbines/shotguns.
If you're trying to sell the whole collection as one lot, it'll be hard to move and you won't get fair market value (IMO). |

Sold 50 some last year at auction. They charged 15% and a small ad fee. Easily got 15% more for the guns than I would have. But it is a popular local gun auction that brings out the fuds with too many $. If you have a recurring big gun auction in the area I'd check that out. Don't use a regular auctioneer that might sell guns every once in a while. Also I rented a box of blankets at uhaul for much of nothing. Didn't have any way to protect that many in the back of the SUV at one time.
Used gun sales are soft now. Be tough to move much at least in my area. |

Auction house would be the quickest. Gunbroker would be next best thing. Shipping the handguns is a pain unless you find an FFL that will ship them at reasonable price. |
List two a day on a local board if you have time without any extraneous details about your liquidation. I feel that collection liquidations really bring out the low ballers. They figure they are taking advantage of your situation. I say that because I am that guy that bought an unfired Winchester 94 for $350 at a recent estate sale. ![]()
If you have time to ship them, please put a list on the arfcom EE so we all have a chance at them. Photos are a blessing too. |
