Anyone have a semi-auto RPD from Vector, or have some close up pics of the thing?  Specifically I'm most interested in the bolt and trigger group.

Anyone, anyone, Bueller?

Yeah, somebody on the AK Forum does, some guy over at FALFiles too. I'd post this in the AK section, you might get a faster response.

what excatly are you looking for? the trigger group isn't what you are use to seeing......the "hammer" is attached to the recoil mechanism and is release when the trigger is pulled. I can put some pictures, but it isn't what you think a trigger group would be.

Do you mean something like the 2-piece bolt & striker assembly in a semi-auto Uzi?  IOW, the trigger drops the sear thus releasing the striker which travels along the same linear plane as the bolt?  (and yes, I'd be most grateful for some pics - if you'd prefer, feel free to email them to me)

I'm unfamilar with how a UZI works.......but from your description that seems about how the RPD works.........here are the pictures, first one is what the "trigger assy" looks like from the top..........the second one is the recoil mechansim that is in place....that big square thing is the "hammer" it's held in place by what I imagine is the disconnector.........

the last 2 pictures is of the bolt......

hope this helps

here is the bolt in place.......it sits in a extention that is attached to the gas piston.......the "hammer" or striker, actually hits the back of the extension where there is a pin in it.....that in turn hits the firing pin........

here is a side view of the bolt.......those "little paddles" on the side are not attached, they are placed in the slot on the bolt.

Mobius -

Thank you!  I may have to take the plunge and get one of them.  I was hoping for something with a more conventional hammer system, but ever since Ernie at SOCOM and Len Savage came up with RPD uppers, I've been interested in the inner workings of the RPD and how it could be possibly converted for use as a semi or an M11 upper.

BTW - I see you're in Ohio - any chance you'll be at Bulletfest?

you can't go wrong buying a VECTOR RPD........the price isn't that much considering what other semi belt feds go for.......and yes I will be at BULLETFEST. it's only a couple hours drive for me......so yeah why not?
