ive been looking for pics and videos of these in use? i figured id go for a 203 over a masterkey simply because of the adapters i can use.

the more i got to thinking about it, i can turn one of these myself i believe they look like anodized aluminum, i was just wondering if anyone here uses them and if there is any danger of shot ammo damaging the 203 barrel or rifleing?

same for the .22 adapters, im pretty confident i can machine one of these out since they run 60-300.

any comments

These are actually all 37mm but the concept is the same and other than being slightly smaller OD, 40mm are the same.

I have 26.5mm, 12ga, 16ga, and .410 adapters and yes, they are all aluminum.   They were made by machinist friends of mine.

THe black thing  is a molded projo a buddy of mine made, not an adapter.  It just happened to be in the same pic.

how about bore damage, i assume the shot expands as soon as it leave the adapter?

and are they stepped like form a chamber to a bore in the adapter or are they the same ID all the way through?

I agree that you could probably make your own 26.5mm, 12g, and 20g adapters without too much hassle.  The 22cal beehive is another story.  First, it's best if the 22cal barrels are rifled.  Second, unlike the other adapters, you'll need a special firing pin mechanism.  My beehive takes a large pistol primer that is struck by the M203 firing pin.  This primer in turn activates a mechanism that fires the 22cal rounds simultaneously.

There's a reason the beehive rounds are $300+.

I have not experienced any probems with shot hitting the inside of the barrel, nor have I heard of anyone shooting similar adapters in a real 203 having any problems.  It's talked about fairly regularly on Grog's board and no one seems to have any trouble.  Machining these adapters is very easy.  I wish I had a lathe and a mill.

As far as the beehive, Joe is right.   Ain't no way you want to make one.  I keep saying I'm going to by the round nose 9 shot one and turn it down to 37mm but I keep buying other toys instead.   Randy says it can be turned but the 22 shot one can not.

(disclaimer - such rounds can NOT be fired through and unregistered 37mm signal launcher, mine is a registered DD)

ive seen the inside of the beehives the fireing pin itself dosent look difficult to make but your right if the barrel are rifles i dont know how to do that, plus if they werent its likely a .22 would put a nice dent in a barrel.

the .22 is fired by a pistol primer combusting against a millede waffer with small dimples that strike all the .22s at once, that could be easily done and screwed into a 3 peice design but rifleing barrels i dont know about.

thanks for the info on the others though i can make those in the lathe easy enough, will just have to order some Al bars.

i emailed mr.40mm and they said the 9 shot .22 for $385 had rifled barrels, but the $330 18 shot .22 had smooth bore.

in the initial message i mentioned avoiding barrel damage, they never commented for or against the non rifled adapter damageing a barrel.

i think i would however spend the extra to possibly save a barrel.

I've never experienced or seen any damage done to the barrels.

Even when bird bombs go off in the barrel it's just a loud bang and a dark spot.  But no physical damage to make any worries.

Something like these?????

40mm to 12ga and the 40mm to 20ga...

The yellow "plug" is a 40mm barrel endcap.

For $$$ and more info, contact Destiny - [email protected]

She's been making these for years and, they're 'battlefield' tested.  She's out of them right now but will have more in a few weeks.

a friend of mine machined a 12 ga adapter for my M203.  Works great, and shot doesn't touch the inside of the barrel.

Des sells them for $60 each on gunbroker, id rather make my own unless there is a discount for emailing her, i have one machined now for 20g i need to finish it up though.

any recomended length? mine isn't very long should be an inch or so longer than the shotshell

+1 I'm goona make some too, Im thinking about adding a little more lengh. I saw lots of other brands at the shot show, some were alum. but only for flares. Are the ones on GunBroker for 60 bucks steel?

Hot off the lathe, made for 20GA, the length concerns me however, those with adapters, do you think this is long enough to safely shoot shot out of?, i have quite a few of these "birdbomb" type flares, they make a loud bang and yellow smoke, its some fine powder incased in a lot of lead so with a 20GA i can get a lot fo distance out of them. i'm still not sure if this thing is long enough to keep a round stable in the barrel. i don't have my 203 complete yet.

Mine is probably a little shorter than that and I have yet to have issues with anything from bird shot to slugs.
