I'm looking to purchase a shotgun for home defense.
All brand loyalty aside... What are the advantages / disadvantages of side ejecting systems versus bottom ejecting systems. thx, Guido |
| Bottom eject is friendlier for a lefty like me but, this is a moot point since most side ejecting shotguns throw shells straight right. Side ejectors are more numerous and cheaper though. As of now there is only two model shotguns that eject and load through the bottom and they both use the same action. |
| It's just your preference. The only two shotguns out there that have bottom eject and are even possible to find are the Ithaca 37 and the Browning BPS, and both are more pricey than an Remington 870 or Mossberg 500. Both the Ithaca 37 and Browning BPS use the same action by the way. All my guns are right handed models and aside from the location of the safety I have nothing wrong with them. |
