when carrying your rifle with a plate carrier what is the preffered sling? I have an ares huskey amentum and dang that got in the way. I was debating switching to an MS4 or something but wanted to see how the hive does it. I learned I can't shoulder my rifle worth a crap either so some tips on that would be great too, thanks!
ill post a set of what my rifle is and carrier later tonight |
| I'm starting to see a trend... All mine have a VCAS. I've used the VTAC in the past and really like it. I have a MS3 on my pistol and hate it. Only reason I got it was because when I build the pistol lower I had an ASAP plate that I got in trade and the Noveske QD end plate was OOS when I ordered my LPK and pistol tube. I have plans to change it as soon as I get a QD end plate. |

What about the idea of having a intagrated sling on the plate carrier, haven't seen much on here about that. What's some of the Pros and Con's to those? It's fine for shooting but when you start climbing things and dragging bodies it sucks. That's why most go with adjustable 2 points. |

How's the MS3 compare to the VCAS? I've no experience with the former. Quoted:

Both my AR's have Blue Force Gear VCAS's on them. I use this for long guns, MS3 for SBR's. How's the MS3 compare to the VCAS? I've no experience with the former. Same ability for adjustment but can reliably switch from single to two point. |

You can buy a slider for the VCAS with a QD attachment point. Save the money you'd spend on a new sling and get that. |

Both the VTAC and the BFG is a good start. Personally, I run the the Sheriff of Baghdad sling. What I like about the SOB sling is the 1 inch webbing and adjuster. Lo-pro, lightweight, and functional.
Never been a big fan of padded slings, it gets too hot around the neckline. I wear the sling a necklace. If I need to sling the rifle around my back, I just loop my right arm through. Keeping it simple.. |
| I've got the padded VCAS and I liked it before I started training in a plate carrier. Now, the sliding adjuster gets caught on the back of the carrier and sometimes it pinches my upper back if I let the rifle hang and stand up straight. I'm not sure if I just need to get more used to wearing plates or if I need to be looking at another adjustable 2 point. Also, stock weld is hard for me with plates on. I'm used to placing the stock pretty inboard of my body and the buckles on my banshee make that really unstable. The only stable part is way out on my shoulder where cheek weld is poor and it fatigues me faster to muscle it into place there. |

I prefer the VCAS.
The thing I didn't like about the VTAC (or LBT 2500BZ) was the 1 inch webbing used in the front, it was too thin for my liking. However if I was to wear my slings like a necklace I would have no problem with the VTAC. It was the traditional method of carry that made the 1 inch webbing unbearable from the twisting. |

I use only integrated slings on my personal guns. I don't find them problematic when dragging bodies or climbing things. I do find normal slings getting in the way, though. I have to use a 2-point on issue guns quite often, and I don't like it at all. I run a TAG tactical single point on my carrier and I have been doing that for many years. I do have a simple 2point with H&K hooks that I can use if I need to have my rifle with me for extended carry without the vest. |

where do you guys put your mag pouches at? I tried putting it in the front in the admin pouch area along with some lightsticks but how do you guys set up? for the record it's a grey ghost gear triple mag shingle. Come on guy there's like a 200 page show me your gear thread on the tactical gear page. |

So like WHAT VTAC sling, Just saying VTAC, is like just saying Ford or GM, when someone asks what type of car. ![]() Did you even bother going to the Viking Tactics web page? There are 3 slings that they offer that are named "Viking Tactics Sling" and they only differ from each other by padded or not and plastic or metal hardware. Not really confusing. Last I checked Ford doesn't make a model called Ford Car or Ford Truck. Something tells me a quick check on GMs current line up will provide me the same info. Read more, post less. |

Although I prefer the BFG VCAS padded in coyote or MC, a padded VTAC is a good option. I like to make my own VTAC style as well (non padded). |
