thinking about getting a break for my ar10 and maybe later on getting the suppressor ( maybe ), as the break stands does it really cut down on recoil and such to justify the 150 ish bucks ?  what about the suppressors are they really worth the 12-1700 bucks ?

i also though about the yhm lt with lt break, i know these to cans are in different leagus but one is affordable and keeps my ears from ringing and the other is expensive as hell, and how much more do i get for my money ? sorry just never held or shot a sf can

The brakes work well for cutting recoil and muzzle flip. Downside, they are pretty loud. Indoor shooting will be very unpleasant but outdoors it is tolerable.  I think its the concussion you notice the most.
I can't speak for other suppressor companies but I own and have shot  Surefire cans. The quick detach system is the best and no one will argue with that.  They lock up tight and very fast.  You can't tell they are a solid product and built to last.  One thing to be aware of is that probably no 10" barrel will be hearing safe with a can.  It will be way more comfortable to shoot and putting a few rounds through without ear pro won't hurt you but its still loud.  The way I see it, I want my suppressor to last my life time so I will only buy Surefire. Quality isn't expensive...quality pays for itself.

The brakes work well, but I would not spend the money on one unless I was also getting a can.

The cost of a supressor mattes little in the scheme of things - 200 dollar stamp, trust costs, wait time, the lack of re-sale valve on them if you want to get rid of it.

Find what you want and get it.  Don't look at the price.  It's not like a scope where you can sell it for 75% of the new price with an ad in the paper and get another scope a day later.  Your cans are going to be yours for just about life.  Don't buy twice instead of once.

As for Surefire, great, great supressors.  Best mount in the business, with very little point of impact change between with and without.

As above, no supressor makes a rifle hearing safe.  You will ruin your hearing if you shoot a rilfe with a supressor and no hearing protection.  If it does not bother you, that means you've already runied your hearing.

What a supressor does is turn a rifle shot into a .22 LR sound, so you can comfortable shoot one inside or under a roof and just have ear plugs in instead of that and muffs.  Plus work better than any brake at reducing recoil, and better than a flash hider for flash.

I'm afraid it is.  Even with a supressor a rifle is going to be 130 dB, or as loud as a jet engine.  The low duration of the sound impulse helps somewhat, but slowly, round after round, it is still destroying your hearing.

Even if it does not "hurt" your ears anymore, you can still damage them by firing without ear protection, and further lower your hearing ability.

You should never fire a gun without ear plugs, supressor or no supressor.

Most people will note sharp notches at the 6khz range on an audiogram who indulge in shooting unprotected. Can or not.

First, figure out what your goal is.  For minimal flash get a flash suppressor.  For minimal recoil get a brake.

Next figure out if you want a sound suppressor.  If so, go with a muzzle brake instead of flash suppressor.  When the suppressor is attached it will kill 99% of the flash and much of the recoil.  Best of both worlds.  With no sound suppressor you still have the brake's recoil suppression (but will be loud).

If want minimal recoil and do not care about sound suppression, get a SJC Titan brake (best of the best).  It's unbelievably loud but the gun doesn't move from shot to shot.  Many serious 3 gun competitors will attest to this.

If want flash suppression and don't care about recoil, good old vortex is as good as any.

Main point: figure out what type of shooting you will be doing and go from there.

Good luck.

Yeah Rainier just got some in last week, surprised they are gone by now.

I picked mine up from AcuSport.
