| can a person swap a bolt from one garand to the next, without concern of headspacing? |
|
You can if you want to depend on being lucky. Each rifle and bolt is different and needs to be gauged to see if it is safe and within tolerances. You have 40,000 lbs per square inch in the chamber right in front of your face when you pull the trigger. You want to be careful when swapping bolts. |
how tough is it to test them ? |
You need headspace gauges to test the bolt/rifle lock up. It can be too large a chamber, too small a chamber, etc. |
