Honestly, I wear as little as possible.  Why?  I sit in a freakin' 5 point harness, strapped to a Blackhawk and it gets annoying when you wear too much gear.  So...definitely stripped down to the essentials.

Thigh holster for the M-9.  M-4 w/ Viking Tactics sling.  I can wear 6 mags on my chest, but usually only wear 3-4 and make space for medical gear (I'm a flight medic).  After that, I keep a knife on my vest, in my pocket and one more in my aid bag along with extra ammo in there too.  Oh...2 more mags for the M-9 on my vest.  Almost forgot about those.

Basically, I don't need to carry a lot of ammo, nor really does anyone.  My rule is this.  While the "standard" combat load is 210 rounds.  If I actually am in a situation that necessitates 6 mag changes...I'm calling for fire or need to find better cover until QRF gets there.
