I bought a tec 9 yesterday at the gun show for 100 dollars, not the biggest fan, but never the less it came with 4 36rd original clips and carrying case. This is the 2nd gen not the AB or DC, well cosmetically the gun look unfired and taken care of. When i took it home i discovered the rear buffer worn and distorted everything else fine and looked good. well the question is what can i use to make a buffer? Can i just use any type of cut rubber or synthetic material, or do you know of anything else i can pick up at the local hardware store and fabricate. Very surprised for a 100 dollars and it even fired the clip flawlessly. Thanks for all help, i figure if you all dont know no one knows!

Pictures would help out a lot. I have never owned a Tec9, but I have done some garage gunsmithing.

No.958 buffer, this was a cheaply made gun, and its over 20 years old and from what i heard is somewhat of a collectors item. It is a fun cool gun. you can tell the buffer was made to fail eventually. Whats so funny is that it ran flawlessly but i dont know for how long. So wanted to restore it so nothing will go wrong.

I use polyurethane when I need to make a buffer for an orphan gun.

I've bought it and other types of synthetics on ebay...
