I got into hangunning last year and now this year my wife is going to start shooting also. We both shoot 9mm and I was starting to wonder if I should start reloading or if I even shoot enough to make it worth while. I shot 1300rds last year and will probably do the same this year and my wife will probably come close to that. I would probably shoot more if ammo was cheaper. A friend of mine has an old single stage reloader he said I could use to see if I like it, then if I want to buy it he would sell it to me cheap. Should I go for it or would I be better off just sticking with factory loads?

Dillon makes a press set up for one pistol caliber  I think they call it the Square D  they pre set it at the factory.  Where reloading gets complicated is with rifles.  Pistols can use carbide dies so no lube. I say go for it.

You come to the Reloading Forum and expect me to tell you to shoot factory loads?

Never happen from me.

Take your friend up on his offer. 9mm is a good round to learn to reload on.

Reloading is a fun hobby and the perfect companion hobby to shooting.

Go get a copy of ABC's of Reloading. The beginners how to manual. Covers the tools and how to reload with pics.

See sig line.

I like reloading.  My ammo is very accurate.  It works great in all the guns I have tried.  I have shot very good scores with it at 50 yards.

Reloading pistol is easy.  You won't spend less money on ammo.  You will just shoot more.

Loading on a single stage for pistol gets old.  The Square Deal is a good option.  You will always want a good single stage if you shoot any rifle ever.

thanks for the replies guys, I'll probably get the stuff to reload sometime before this summer. My main reason to get into it is so I can shoot more for not alot more money than I'm spending now on factory ammo. I've reloaded shotshells for years, but shoot alot more of them than anything else. I've thought about handgun reloading before, but was a little intimidated by it because it seems like it's alot more involved than shotshell reloading, but with the price of factory ammo going up all the time I want to give it a try.

The most important advice I can give you is don't rush. Do your research before you buy anything. Also while learning don't worry so much about the money you're saving, as your first attempts won't be cheap if you're buying small amounts of components.

If you're like myself or many others you'll soon be addicted. I spend more time in my garage now than I ever have just chugging away on the press and learning more and more about the hobby.
