I am debating on what to do for my next toy, either a suppressed glock 17 or 21 with a swr suppressor. The question I have is what bbl to use? I know a few makers of threaded bbls for a 17 but I need a good source for a glock 21/swr hemsII bbl.  Also has anyone here suppressed a 21 with a hems II and does it run good with standard ball?

thanks in advance!,

I am not too familiar with .45 Glocks or suppressors so I will let someone else recommend something for the G21.

For the G17 I would buy a G17L barrel from Glockparts.com and have it cut down for your G17 and threaded. I think SWR can do that for you.

for the G17 Its always best to use an OEM barrel when possible,it slide right in and you should have no fitting or cycling issues.

for the G21 I would get a Jarvis barrel,I have the H&K Tactical 45 so I really cannot tell you which is the best aftermarket .45 barrel for a Glock but Ive ordered a G17 barell and it came with a thread protector and it worked super sweet and threaded on nicely and a snug fit. I have a LWD barrel its SS and has a very loose fit on the can, the KKM barrel I have for the same application did not allow my suppressor to thread on all the way so I sent it back for them to fix it and am selling it.Just be sure to tell whomever you want to make it the thread pitch and type make and model of can.

Make sure you talk to SWR before buying a barrel.  I'm pretty sure they use a modified thread form in the Hems cans.  I would ask them who they recommend.

For the G21, you can use anything. SWR will do their modified thread, .578x28, 16x1 RH, 16x1 LH.

If you are ever going to get a 1911, get it .578x28  if not get it the USP Tactical thread ...  the 16x1mm LH.

I have shot a G21 with an HEMS1 and it runs fine with standard ball.

If this is your first suppressed pistol I would go with the 9mm. I think you might be a little disappointed with the sound of a suppressed .45 compared to a suppressed 9mm.

just curious, but why would you pick the G17L barrel over the G34 barrel?

I recently bought a Lone Wolf barrel for my G21 and Gemtech Blackside.  They also sell Jarvis and KKM but their own barrel was like 90 bucks and Gemtech is OK with it.  It works great.   Lone Wolf

I don't know of any advantage one barrel has over the other, maybe check Glocktalk , I just know from personal experience that a 17L barrel works very well.

Another vote for the Lone Wolf "house brand" barrel. The price is hard to beat (we charge $95 just to thread a customer supplied barrel + shipping). They have natural stainless or Black Oxide finish for a few dollars more. I use one in my personal G21 with Gemtech Blackside and I am very happy with it. It is every bit as reliable as my $250 match grade barrel.
