| I have a questionand hopefully someone will point me in the correct direction to find a reference for the info. Ok I have a C&R, in the military, Ok I have an SKS my pop wants, he lives in another state and I am also still a resident of that state even though I am stationed in another state. How the H*** do I transfer that to him? through an FFL for the transfer or can one tranfer a FTF and do that legally. I can't find a reference for this in my materials as I am sure we will have to transfer through a FFL. I do need to read about TN, as I do not even know if they have a FTF law. Probably the FFL is the correct answer for the transfer and porobably the safest as far as legality. |
| it's with me at my house. He was looking at some and knew I had one, and I very rarely shoot it. I'm not sure where you are trying to go with this question if it's at my house or his. I think I know what your thinking maybe I have the address on the FFL there, nope I have a house and all that good stuff where I am at. I enjoy the C&R and the benies with it. I have had the rifle for like 6 years. Just asking the question about a transfer like that since I am not sure but I will enquire elswhere. |

Is your military home of record your home state and which address is your C&R tied to...it sounds like the HoR??
I'd think that if your home of record is the same as your father's, you could transport the rifle and give it to him FTF, regardless of having a C&R...though your State is not listed and it may have additional requirements. Otherwise you would have to mail it to an FFL in his State. |
| No the C&R address is where I am stationed at not the home of record, I am just alittle confused on how to do the FTF transfer legaly, obviously I want to be legal as I don't need to visited anytime soon while I am asleep. Not sure if he even wants it now as he is looking at just getting a Remington 1187. He was in the Marine Corps in Vietnam and after, so he has always kinda liked SKS's and Ak's, and EBR's. I really think he wants a shotgun or a rifle and jsut can't make up his mind. I told him just to get both and then he would be happy since he will just end up getting both anyway. |

Aside from the physical transfer, in your bound book I'd just put your dad's name/address and a note that he's "father" and that's that. Its not a big deal in that regard. As for the physical transfer: You could deliver it in-person. Just hand it to him. Otherwise I'd suggest going through an FFL to avoid you violating the law by sending a firearm through interstate commerce to an unlicensed individual. Have him hunt up a gunshop near home that'll receive it from you and transfer it to him and be sure to send your dad $30-40 to cover the transfer fee (be a nice son). You can buy/sell/transport any curio/relic firearm anywhere in the U.S. by your license. But your father isn't licensed and the two of you are not physically in the same state so you can't send it to him via interstate commerce. But you're at home, holding the SKS and your father is standing next to you... just hand it to him and everything is peachy keeno. Its really not a big deal. You sending it to him without him being licensed is a violation of GCA68. Handing it to him is not. Oh.. make sure the SKS is not a Chinese as they're not Curio/Relic. Has to be Russian/Soviet, Romanian, Yugoslavian, etc. Most all the c-r SKS are listed. The Chinese SKS is not curio/relic. Be sure to give him some ammo for it. An SKS without 1,000 rds of ammo is no fun Dutch |
| Thanks dutch, yeah if he wants it still, I am just gonna take it to him through an FFL transfer. Yeah about sending it to him straight out I knew that much you cannot do that leagaly. Oh yeah its a C&R yugo, I am glas I got that when they were still being sold in unissued condition and very cheap still....We'll see if he still wants it. He may have already went a different route and got an EBR |
