| I have been looking at some of the new alpha gen 3 tube sheets and notice there is no tube gain listed ? Why is that? My few years old ITT data cards and excalibur system sheets have tube gain listed and the new cards do not? |

Are the data sheets ITT or generated by someone else? One thing about gain listed on a data sheet (and lots of people will argue this) just becuse your data sheet says one thing that does not mean that is what you have... Gain can change over time or it can even be ADJUSTED... on the tube itself. Another twist to this is when one starts comparing test sets that measure gain what you get on one will not be what you get on another. Lastly most people can not percieve a great deal of differance in gain with the naked eye. in short, DO NOT GET WRAPPED AROUND THE AXLE OVER TUBE DATA SHEETS ! ! ! you can drive yourself crazy over it, trust me. IPSC_GUY SIERRA II ALPHA P.S. here is something else, new mil psec tubes (yes these are avalible to the public ) do NOT come with data sheets. ITT says that mil spec tubes must meet a set minium to be graded as such and therefore any thing you get over the mins is just gravy. |
| I have a older ITT data card with tube gain and just wondered why the new cards don't have it listed. It was just something I noticed while looking around the net today.I do also have system sheets from excalibur which have all tube info with system test info also. I have owned systems with and without the data cards and liked all of them, but I will tell you if you ever go to resell a unit with a card in my experenice it has sold faster and brought a better price in my dealings over the last several years. I guess people just feel more safe on what they are getting when buying a used system with data card. |
