I got a great deal on some .224 52gr. SMK BTHP molly bullets($10/100)
I decided on removing the molly coating by dumping them in a water bottle with some Brasso and a water. I shook the bullets for a while and got about 90% of the molly off. Then I tossed them in my cleaner with some walnut media. I didn't think about it when I did it but once I pulled them out I realized that every HP had walnut stuck in it. I was able to get some out but just about ever bullet has some still in it. How much do you think this will effect accuracy? |

Back when I used to compete my friends and I would buy bulk 168gr BTHP NM bullets. We would buy either Hornady or Sierra depending on the "deal of the month".
Very often these high quality factory match bullets would have tumbling media in the points. This was from the factory's tumbling. The bullets always performed excellently. Motor BTW: Why did you bother cleaning off the molly? The only thing it may have done was reduce maximum velocity a little. |
