I'm going to do some loading tomorrow for the first time for 458 socom. I haven't worked up loads in a while and for the first time I've got a Chrony. So the rule is start 10% down. So on a 34gr load this is 30.6gr. How big of steps should I take and how many rounds of each charge? I was thinking
30.6, 31, 31.5, 32, 32.5, 32.8, 33.1, 33.4, 33.7, 34
If I do 3 rds of each that's 30rds which isn't to bad.

personally I like charge wt increments.  my rule of thumb is 1perecent steps rounded. to the nearest 10th of gr.

I would be more worried about acuuracy reliablity and safety before chrono results.  I load 6 rds of each charg wt.  I use them to foul the bore, and I can look for pressure signs with each charge wt.  before firing the whole powder charge.

I like to focus on accuracy potential first, then worry about the #'s.
