| I am looking for a semi-auto shotgun for 3 gun but being a college student, it need to be on a budget. I am not against getting a used gun as long as I can shoot it first before striking the deal. The only shotgun I have currently is a Mossberg 935 and being it has an overbored barrel, I can't shoot slugs through it. Looking for some input and suggestions. |

Get a new barrel for it?
Or, don't worry about slugs. I've shot a lot of 3 gun matches, and I have fired a grand total of 4 slugs. Unless you know your favored match loves to shoot slugs. Otherwise, a Mossberg 500 can be found dirt cheap used. Heck, even new they aren't much. Now, I'll throw in a warning: If you're on a really tight budget, 3 gun might not be the sport for you. There's a lot of gear to get for 3 firearms, lots of ammo for practice and matches, and usually the matches themselves are a bit more expensive than your average club match. |

Wow we shoot 5 to 10 slugs in most matches (club level) Pat Interesting. Well, different matches an all. Most of the ones I go to don't even want us running 00 buck. Just good ol' Biden approved birdshot! (At least #6 or smaller) We have heavier targets for slugs that can take the hits. Pat |

If your budget is that tight you may want to hold off on 3 gun. It's an expensive hobby.... My first year I just ran the guns that I already owned and still spent a ton of money on ammo, mag pouches, gear in general and I did not buy any expensive stuff I just bought what I needed to get by . I am not trying to detour you by any means but here is a idea..
Find a buddy that also like 3 gun and you 2 can share the cost of the gear and guns if the need is there. Obviously you can't share ammo but hey every little bit helps. I am still running a HSGI cobra belt instead of a real 3 gun belt. But I did just buy a new JM pro to replace my 20 yr old 870 pump. |
