Hi guys,

I'm sure this topic has been asked many times in the pass.  I'm looking for an AR15 for 3gun competition and my budget is around  $1500.00
I have narrow down to 3 names: daniel defence, windham weaponry and stag arm.   Which one would you choose or  any other suggestions pls, feel free. Cause I am a newbie about AR

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate

Thx

I  would love to build my own but I don't have any experience on AR, it would difficult for me to choose the right parts.   What works and what doesn't  work .

Its not very hard at all. All the knowledge you will need is right here on this sight and we are here to help you along as well.

Edit. In your situation I would search up on what others are doing with their rifles for 3gun. We have a whole section of the forums just for 3 gun so that would be a good place to start. You may find that the rifles you are looking at arent really what you need for that type of shooting.

Very true. But if you are still not comfortable in building your own, DD is an excellent choice.

I would go with the DD.

I would suggest building your own...then you get what you want every time!

If these are your three choices.... DD by a long shot.

But as stated above, $1500 will buy you plenty of quality parts to custom build your own.

That would be the equipment exchange...upper right hand corner, it's a rectangular orange button.  Look for new o used ar upper parts, and the same in lower parts...It's all in there.  From receivers to lower parts kits, bolt carriers to assembled BCG's.  I have been in your shoes, trying to start from scratch.  Not easy, but this site has every single thing you need, including links on videos that show you how to do it.  You are in the right place!

Does Daniel Defense or Windham Weaponry build a 3 gun rifle?

Stag Arms has the only sub $1500 3 gun model that I am aware of.

Daniels Defense offers an 18" SPR upper for just under $1000.  I've never seen one in real life and have not heard anything about this particular upper, but DD does have an excellent reputation.

I agree on DD's reputation even though I have never shot one of their rifles.  I think they are sponsoring a few matches this year.  I wish they would do more like they do in the tactical market.

I'd have to say Stag 3G. I had about the same budget and did a ton of research and asked a lot of questions here and on other forums. I ended up custom building a lower and picking up a Stag 3G upper. Price ended up being about the same as the complete 3G rifle would have been, but I already had the stripped lower when I decided to do the build.

Stag 3G in that price range. Windham Weaponry is just Bushmaster under a new name. Daniel Defense makes good guns but not for three gun.

DoubleStar offers a dedicated 3 gun rifle under $1500.  (Yes, MSRP is a little over that)

DoubleStar also offers upgrades from the factory for comp, trigger, and stock.

But yes, I am biased!

MSRP of the Doublestar 3 gun rifle is $1699. Stag 3G is $1450. Didn't really see anything that made it worth $250 more than the Stag. I also really don't like the type of stock that comes on the Doublestar rifle.

Is $1500 your budget for just the rifle or are meaning the whole enchilada: rifle, optic, mount, etc.
