OK, I have decided I am going to sell my 22" JM930 and buy a Benelli M2..............BUT not until the beginning of next year. <––––The kids need to enjoy a nice X-Mas I guess. I'm wanting to maximize reliability after this shotgun went to jamming on me at the Fallen Brethren 3-gun...costing me several spots in Heavy Optics. I've RIPPED the gun down to basic components, scrubbed and cleaning everything in the gun thoroughly, and made a few mods that I hope will help....and so far seem to have helped for around 300-350 rounds this week. - I increased the bevel on the chamber to allow smoother feeding.....not a ton, but smoother and a slight change in angle. Shells seem to chamber smoother. - Opened the loading port significantly.....little difference in reliability, but loading weak hand and "dropping deuces" as Jesse would say, have sped up substantially (fastest weak hand so far is 6.4 seconds for 8 rounds, but usually in the 7's.) - Polished the mag tube extension and mag tube where they meet since I have had the follower catch a couple times. - Polished the outside of the tube follower since it caught......now the follower moves smooth as silk in the mag tube - Carrier welded and slotted by C-Rums - After several malfunctions where the shell was turned 20-30 degrees to the chamber, I took the carrier to my mallet and slightly rounded it.....the shells now hit dead center in the chamber. - Slightly lightened the trigger a little - Lightened the spring on the carrier, made reloads faster and seems to have little to no bearing on reliability so far. After doing these, I took the shotgun home on Tuesday night and ran the piss out of it with slugs, pheasant loads, #7.5's birdshot, light #8's.....I failed to make it choke on anything, but it was only a case of 7.5's and some extra rounds from various boxes mixed into the mag tube to try and choke it. I was able to shoot clays in the air, gong at 50 and 100, clays on holders, spin the spinner, and clear the star.....so shooting was slow for flying clays to as fast as I could pull the trigger, including a few "mag dumps" to see if I could choke it by just pulling the trigger as fast as possible. Am I missing anything on this shotgun to make it as good as it could be for the rest of this year? I have a small monthly match in 8 days, USPSA multigun in Rolla, MO on Nov.3-4, Gateway Nov. 10, and a small match in DeSoto, KC Nov. 17 then I should be done with matches for the year. |

turns out.....my at home "tuning" job on the lifter left it with a slight cant to the right....leading shells towards the ejection port instead of the chamber. I took the lifter over to my anvil and gave it a slightly rounded profile so that it fed to the center of the chamber.
It ran 300 flawless rounds for me, then sold it to a friend for $450.....he ran 100 or so flawless rounds through it, including his first local match, then some more ammo practicing with me. BUT..........I really like my M2!
