Anyone here use polychoke?
I have read that it ruins the balance on standard shotguns, but I want to know how durable the item is. Also, is the vented model worth the extra? I am thinking of getting one for Saiga 12 and one made to fit Invector plus. Please let me know if you have any insight into this item. |

I have run them on a couple of shotguns used for 3-gun competition, and have one on my Saiga 12. They are easy to install on the Saiga 12 and greatly improve the shot pattern. They are very durable and easy to adjust (loctite them on and keep them clean). Don't bother with the vented version - it just adds lengths for no performance benefit. I never really noticed the weight/balance change, which I think is trivial compared with the weight of a fully loaded magazine. IMHO they look OK on the Saiga 12 too (though they are a bit ugly on a more traditional gun). The only downside it that slug accuracy can be iffy... you may have to play with different settings and different brands of slug to find something that shoots consistently. Overall, I'd say they are a good option for the Saiga 12 - they are an economical and flexible way to improve the patterns over the stock unchoked barrel.
On the other gun with Invector chokes, I would stick with the Invectors... they will probably pattern better and shoot slugs more consistently. |
