I am getting ready to mount a scope on my AR.  I was wondering what height rings to use.  I was looking at the high see thru but wanted some opinions.

Thanks

Buy a Larue or ADM mount.

You can't mount a scope high enough to use your irons under it.

The upper is a flat top.  It does not have iron sights.  I am just wondering which would be better a set of low, mid, or high rings.  I am a bigger guy and have not used a scope much.

Most standard scope rings won't let you mount the scope far enough forward to get a comfortable cheek weld w/ the proper eye relief.  A Larue, ADM, or Bobro mount cantilevers the scope slightly over the front of the receiver to allow additional eye relief.  There are other options for non quick-detach mounts that are less expensive.  Warne makes a good mount and the Burris and Nikon mounts are popular too.

Larue's website is down right now or I'd post a link to it also.

Good mounts aren't cheap, and generally cheap mounts aren't good.  You just have to pick what's important to you.
