| Well I have a really nice M1 Garand that I just got and I've wanted to do some 3gun challenges for awhile now. So I know I'm gonna be putting a new barrel on her to do alot more shooting. What I am wondering is how common is it for someone to shoot 30-06 for 3gun let alone using an M1. My plan is to be using my M1, my 1911 .45, and 12gauge, so any advice positive or neg will be considered I've got thick skin. |
| I've seen a couple of guys use them at local matches. It can be a problem carrying enough clips. The Texas Multigun Championship has a WWII division that requires the gear you have listed. It's the only major match I've seen an M1 Garand at. If you could make it down to Texas you could shoot a great match on an even footing with everyone else in your division. |

I've shot local matches w/ my M1. The other competitors get a kick out of it- bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, ping!
If you're shooting for fun and not for score, it's a great time. If your club uses IMGA scoring (1 A or 2 anywhere), go for the 1-A. The reload time is what is so costly w/ the M1. |

You don't mention if your shotgun is a pump or auto. With a pump, you can shoot the heavy metal division and be a little more competitive.
That way, your 1911 capacity won't be a handicap. Either way, go shoot some matches with whatever you have, it will be a good time. |
| at the first or second of the North Carolina Tactical Matches I shot, a gentleman by the name of Mike Gibson shot on my squad using a Garand...he seemed to have a real blast shooting the 8 rounder.....I later found out that he had supplied the steel for the match... MGM targets....a supporter of the 3 gun sport... |

It can be done. carry clips. I was using a surplus web belt in the videos below, but magnets on the belt will work on the steel clips also. Sorry, I'm apparently not smart enough to figure out how to embed these. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0FDtLdPi3Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF0HTsnaKeY |
