Being an early four-digit unit, this lower is in good condition for its age, though it does have some handling marks and wear in the anodizing. What may look like dust in the photos in some areas is actually worn/failed flecks in the anodizing (note the starboard side). Overall a clean unit, and very presentable in original matte anodized finish. This lower is pre-
Chainsaw, but nonetheless there is no "2" stamped inside the receiver or markings indicating seconds elsewhere.
I believe this lower may have been re-assembled at some point in its life, as indicated by a negligent tool mark on the bolt catch boss. Furthermore, the safety lever, mag catch, and H-buffer marking appear to be Colt? (Early Noveske's are said to have used--perhaps amongst others--CMT lower parts kits.) The fire control, QD receiver end plate, and grip/gapper were installed by me. (Like an idiot, I lost track of where the original Tango Down grip went, sorry. If I find it, I'll mail it to you.)
I purchased the receiver many years ago and the seller had removed the trigger group. Perhaps he had something nice he wanted to keep... In similar fashion, I removed my Geissele and installed a new Schmid Tool trigger/disconnector, and Schmid Tool NiB F/A hammer (for awesome mid-2000's vibes). Has a fresh grease job accordingly. Very minimal, nominal play when mated to a sample group of Colt and Noveske upper receivers. I'm picky about excessive slop, and this feels like a newer receiver to me in terms of play.
Very cool bit of Noveske history, and a special piece for a collector that is nice enough to present, but not so mint that you wouldn't blast with it. (Johnny would want you to rip on it, regardless!) The buldged roll marks and tool chatter marks inside the magwell = total first generation awesomeness. If you'd like a period-correct VLTOR IMOD stock (black) in excellent condition, let me know and we can roll that in to the sale.
