The thread below got me thinking how glad I am not to be a millennial and lucky enough to take time off and get out of town once in a blue moon.

Even a weekend trip a few hours away counts. Here are a few of mine.This was a cottage that I rented out in the Hill Country a few weeks ago. Living in the city makes you appreciate the rural parts of Texas a lot more than you might if you already live there. It was a nice, peaceful spot to spend a few days. 
A couple of weeks later I stayed at this bed and breakfast a few blocks from the beach in Galveston. It's not far from home but it was nice to watch the sun rise and set by ocean.

Vacation in the Yukon Territory and Alaska. Was definitely the trip of a lifetime.

Me, the wife & kids took a road trip this past July (we love road trips). From Austin we went to Roswell, Albuquerque, Pueblo, Durango, Flagstaff, Socorro, Alamogordo, and many places in between. Some iPotato pics:
Sandia Peak tram in Albuquerque 
Stopped for lunch in Eagle Nest, NM 
Lake Isabel, CO 
Bishop Castle in CO. Pretty cool place. I did not climb up it but my kids did. 
Passed through Ouray. 
Stayed in Durango and rode the narrow gauge train to Silverton. 
Four Corners 
Very Large Array (VLA) west of Socorro, NM 
Space museum in Alamogordo, NM 
White Sands

The airport in Helsinki
Going back to the Canadian side 
The American side 
A trip to the Air and Space Museum 
We bought 2 giant tubs of cheese balls at Wal Mart for our East Coast road trip,my little sister ate one of them herself 
Il Duomo in Milan: travel tip,totally worth seeing but there are scads of African hustling trinkets and mobs of Chinese tourists bumping into you with selfie sticks

The southernmost tip of Baja California in Cabo San Lucas.

so far we have been to Turkey Bay Ky. quite a bit since it's close enough for weekend getaways. been to Huntsville Tn. 2x and rode at Brimstone , Ride Royal Blue and Windrock and look foreward to going back and also exploring new parks in the coming years! |

Next time you want to get a way in the TX hill country check out Settlers crossing in Fredericksburg TX. Spent my honeymoon there. I'm looking forward to the next time I can get out there

This month I took the wife on a surprise trip to NH for a night
