I have a friend of a friend that recently took up an interest in guns. He's asked me a bit about my opinions, caliber, etc. He was recently super excited to show it to me.
As he goes back to grab it from his bedroom I was thinking, I'd bet $100 that its an XD in .40 or S&W SW9VE/SW40VE.... Sure enough, its a fucking .40 XD with full gripzone . Talked about ammo a bit and he mentioned that with .40 you dont need JHPs because its already so powerful (according to the gun counter clerk) and using JHPs might be considered overkill by a jury. I told him he was full of shit, and he bought some HSTs online. He's taking a basic pistol class at a shop I frequent (and only has a few tards that work there). +1 pro gun voter. Are there just "newbie" guns and what makes them that way? |

Looking down the barrel of a loaded firearm or talking about call of duty

I never understood the problem. If someone wants to spend their money on a high point problem solva then it is none of my business. That being said, XD in .40 is definitely newb |

In my AO it seems most first time gun owners flock to the Taurus Millennium as their first gun.

Have to go with Glock on this one myself.
As popularized and used in virtually every TV show/movie, it's hard to think that a person searching for that first firearm wouldn't be drawn to one. A.W.D. |

Eh, I've shot XD's and I don't get the hate.
Other than Grip Zone. That should be ridiculed. |

Terms like cheese grater, starter AR, and not understanding the XD line of pistols are pretty damn nice.

AK with M4 stock, red dot on crappy mount bathed in tapcoesque plastic
Mosin in an archangel stock with canted 4x28 scope |

Anyone with a 2013 join date. Any version of the XD is also a solid indicator of newbie buffoonery.

"I just picked up a twelve jee aye (12ga) shotgun..."
It was one of those Mossbergs with the chainsaw grip |

A Springfield XD and a budget brand cheap AR.
HiPoint if the same buyer also has almost no disposable income. |

Pretty much all of them have been named so far.
.40 in general, Ruger autos, XD, Bersa, S&W SD, Taurus, etc. |

Way too much recoil for a .380 and it was unreliable with anything but ball ammo. Surprised to see them mentioned so frequently ITT |
