‘ And I should have done it long ago. I set it up parallel to the wall. For years I had a perpendicular plastic reel contraption (pic below) from Walmart. I tolerated that thing for years and, credit where due, that reel survived south Florida sun but it was .... cheap. I didn’t know any better. Then about a year and a half ago, as I became more educated on the details of detailing a car, I saw frequent mention of using a quality hose reel and specifically this Eley. I balked at the price, at the time, but it is worth it for how I use the hose. The parallel mount (same unit can also be set up for perpendicular) has a drag brake that can be set Just Right ™?®?©? to prevent the hose end from dropping to the floor. It can be set so that it will hold whatever position you rotate it to (set it with water in the hose) without noticing the drag when pulling hose out or cranking it back on. I’m a reel  fan of the attention to detail and it is absolutely solid.
