Regarding the human race in general.
Agree or disagree? |

I hope for my girls' sake that it hasn't, but I'm pretty sure it has.

Sucks being around for one of the intermediary periods instead of something cooler, but I don't doubt we'll do far more awesome things in the future.

Yep. The '80s were awesome. Spent the entire decade at Ft Bragg. But still had a hell of a time. Chasing poon at Duke and UNC was great sport.

Im gonna be an optimist. We’ve been here before countless times. AI really has me frightened though.

Everyone has thought this for all of recorded history. There are Ancient Greek texts about how the newest generation is terrible and society is going to hell.

Technology continues to advance. Corruption continues to be revealed. The future offers possibilities that are simply beyond the imagination of most alive today.
Human history has been defined by violence, anger, scarcity and limitations. Such minds that are used to that are not going to be able to handle the kind of abundance that is beginning to take root. They will fight against it. There's a very simple concept here that must be addressed before we progress as a species. That is humanities shadow in a psychological sense. Until that is comprehensively addressed on an individual basis we are just going to see people playing out their fantasies over and over again. There's a not particularly skilled author named Jason Reza Jordani who tries to paint what this shadow world will look like. What he envisions is limited by his lack of understanding of basic scientific principles. But in the world he imagines you basically have 2 groups of people. The traditionalists who have won 99% of the planet. Who seek to turn the clock back to the stone age. Yet they somehow have flying stealth battleships? Opposing them are the Promethians. Who are largely defined by their determination to create replicas of somewhat more comfortable eras in history. 1980s America being the most popular, of course. |

I'd agree, the 2010-2020 era was the best overall. After 2020 everything has turned weird and shitty. Going forward we can expect more control, fewer rights, and a decline in freedom and standard of living worldwide. Too many people, not enough stuff.
For the future I'm either predicting something like hunger games/dredd or mad max after ww3. |
|
Though we can never really know for certain, I would say the odds this is true easily surpass 99%.

Depends on which socio-economic group you're born into. Life for the wealth group will continue to improve, inversely proportional to its size. Opposite for the poors.

View Quote don’t let it. the AI of today is complete bs and will blow over in a few years. we’ve gone through this before. the best they have to offer are LLMs, who only can guess the next best word to choose based on millions text parsed to make that guess. |

The ones that live through the next pain cycle may experience a great rebound but who knows I will be dead by then.

One thing that should be borne in mind.
If you're expecting Terminator robots with Joe Bidens severed head installed as a CPU to skullfuck you and everyone you care about for the rest of eternity. That might be what you get. If that happens, just remember. Eternity is a VERY long time. |
|
As the fiat bubble from using CURRENCY instead of MONEY collapses, we will see armageddon. It'll get better after that.
|
|
Empires come and go. The USA was a great experiment but probably not possible due to human nature. Societies/cultures rise and fall.
HOWEVER This A.I. shit and other technologies being developed (because we can, not because we should), will probably be the end of us. It's most likely all downhill from here on till lights out. |
|
Youd best be getting prepared to return to agrarian. The good news is whatever guns you have the skills to build will be legal.

I wish I was alive when everyone thought cocaine was socially acceptable, that was probably a great time.

Half of me thinks this, half of me hopes not. That's all I got.

View Quote I think it will be Hunger Games followed by either Dredd (best case) or if the former fails to stabilize the situation , Mad Max….once the libtards running the Hunger Games run their State into the ground on full afterburner. That’s what the Judges in the Dredd universe did, they were a final desperate attempt to prevent the US, by then a failed State, from completely disintegrating into chaos. If the succeed, Mega City 1 shambles along on life support. If they fail, total collapse and a new Dark Age. |

Tech is advancing and society is regressing.
They intersected in the 80s. |

Regardless, I look forward to the day Pedo Joe croaks followed by Hitlery. It will be time to celebrate.

This seems appropriate
Attached File Does humanity ever come out of the hellish global third-world bug eating surveillance state that is being created? Maybe, who knows. But we sure as hell haven't seen the worst yet. |

Nope. The future will be amazing. Imagine full body scans where AI can diagnose disease and it can be treated before it impacts you. And that is just one example of where we are headed.

Quoted: I'm sure the average Roman citizen said exactly the same thing 1800 years ago and the Persians 600 years before them. Everything grand will rot and fail but that doesn't mean humanity has reached it's pinnacle. ETA> And to judge the peak of the human race in terms of decades as they exist in the current lifespan is utter conceit. https://www.visualcapitalist.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/histomap-820px.jpg View Quote The problem is for the most part the Roman citizen was right. You had to wait almost 1700 years for people to start bathing daily and building proper roads again, rediscover lost mathematics, and develop comparable mail route systems. That is one long fucking dark age. The trajectory of medicine also drove off a cliff for most of that time. |

Maybe, but I'm still optimistic. It does appear that America is declining though.
AI is an evolutionary leap for humanity the likes of which has never been seen, and truly beyond what most people can imagine. The world is going to look very different in 10 years. |
