Speaking recently to the Associated Press, DEA chief Mark R. Trouville, who heads the agency's Miami office, took an even more dire tone. "This ain't your grandfather's or your father's marijuana," he said. "This will hurt you. This will addict you. This will kill you." 'For our friends at the DEA, here's a news flash. Unlike booze, sleeping pills, or even aspirin, pot poses no risk of fatal overdose, regardless of its THC content. (In fact, my physician can prescribe me a pill called Marinol that's 100 percent THC and nobody at the Drug Czar's office seems to mind.)' Ignorant azzhat. Discuss. |

I've been hearing the same old "this ain't your daddy's weed" since I first had drug education in elementary school. And yet, nobody's dying of pot overdoses two decades later. If they really don't want kids to smoke pot, they'd do well to not act like complete fools by exaggerating the way they do. |
No Darryl Kyle died of pot. You are thinking of Josh Hancock who died of alcohol and pot. His BAC was .157 ANDE HE HAD 8 grams of pot in his car. |

Even if todays weed is more potent, whats the big deal? Its like beer and hard liquor. Sure beer isn't as strong as whiskey or vodka, but that just means a persons gonna consume more to get the same desired effect. The potency argument is just a cop out for hypocrites who smoked years ago. |

Associated Press CHICAGO -- St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Darryl Kile died from a blockage of the arteries supplying the heart and there was evidence that drug use contributed to his death, Cook County's coroner said Tuesday. Edmund Donoghue, the county's chief medical examiner, said Kile, a former Colorado Rockies pitcher, died of causes. Toxicology tests did show evidence of marijuana use, although it was probably indicative of drug use prior to Kile's death, Donoghue said. Tests were negative on steroids, alcohol, cocaine and ephedrine, a substance commonly found in dietary supplements banned by some sports. Kile, 33, had a 90 percent blockage in two coronary arteries, Donoghue said, confirming his preliminary analysis shortly after the death. The pitcher also had an enlarged heart and a blood clot in one of the coronary arteries. |

To each their own man, I dont see any differance in drinking or smoking pot, both should be treated the same. It is crazy all the horror stories they spread, drunk drivers kill more poeple in 1 year then pot smokers probably ever have. Gateway drug my ass!!!!!!!! |

He died as a direct result from the effects of smoking pot - The munchies. Had he not smoked pot he would not have had the Munchies.

I am so sick of these stupid marijuana threads. They always devolve into a big argument, with a bunch of clowns coming out of the woodwork to defend drug laws. In a stunning display of intellectual dishonesty, some of these same clowns probably happily post in the "Whatcha drinkin'?" threads. I can find absolutely zero difference between marijuana and alcohol, except that it's probably easier to kill yourself (and others) with booze. There is absolutely no justifiable reason why one should eb legal and one not. Since that is the case, and we can't outlaw alcohol (that worked out real well the first time), the only honest solution is to legalize marijuana. |

Not the pot but things its laced with can kill or mess you up. My junior year of high school we had a kid get his hands (unknowingly) on some bad weed and smoked himself retarded. Came back from the hospital after a few weeks and was attending "special classes". No joke, it was laced with something (what I dont know) but he O-Ded and suffered permanent brain damage and lots most of his functions as a result. But this rarely ever happens because your local dealer is such an upstanding guy he would never sell you or your kids or anyone bunk juju...

You missed the point by about a mile and a half. Pot prohibition laws are stupid. He is explaining that people who support those laws are also stupid. and FWIW, "Illegal" and "wrong" are not necessarily the same thing. |
