Minus the scope, what did that rifle cost, OP?
Just out of curiosity. |

My old neighbor had that exact rifle in 308. Its a heavy sumbitch, recoil felt like a my AR. It shot very well. Would hate to take it for a long walk though.

If I could do it over again I wouldn't have bought a Barrett m99 I would have bought a TRG 42 nice rifles |

NICEEEE!! If that Savage shoots as well as the main line rifles they make (no doubt it will ) you will have a hell of a LR setup for a decent price. NightForce scope mount?
ps - The woodwork in your home is spectacular. 8D] Don't know the color stain used by chance do you? Have a pile of Oak pieces I am re-finishing. |

We will see what that comes to per re-load...that's the only way a guy can afford to shoot .375 H&H Mag and .338 Lapua. |

Midway has them for like $25 once every couple months. I'm really happy with it but the black textured parts get hot in the sun.

Let us know how she shoots when you can . I've been staring at the 2011 catalog and Savage's web site for weeks now wondering what they would be like .Congrats on a beautiful piece !! My Nesika project . Been on the back burner for over a year now . RB-LP , M model action , single shot in 338 Lapua Ackley Improved , 32" Krieger pipe, .364 neck , smithed by Sid Goodling My intentions are to have the barrel turned down a bit and fluted by Sid , and probably have the action set up as a repeater and machined to take AI mags . I want to mill a billet , barrel-block stock for her very similar to the factory Savage you have . Time will tell . |

I'd buy one if I had place for it to stretch it's legs. My .300RUM gets bored as it is.

I got rid of all mine, due to my 650 yard limited range. Probably my favorite round of all time, but silly to load/shoot it when 308 is just as effective (on paper targets, anyway) at my range.
I had a couple GA Precision's in 338 Lap and a TRG42. All were spectacularly accurate, and fun to shoot. Especially with a can. I miss them, but not the cost of reloading them. (Over twice the amount of powder per round as 308 and the projo's were more expensive too. And brass, badly) |

awesome rifle, whats a realistic max range on those? Thats a loaded question, but lots of guys go past 2K yards. Cant recall exactly where they go subsonic though. But it is a long range round, as good as any IMO. |

Until you have to hump it around for a couple of weeks. A folding stock helps a little, but the cost of the folder is just obcene... I find it odd, that the TRG-42 is not that accurate up to 300 meters, but somehow it becomes very accurate from 300 meters up to about 1000 meters that I've shot it. |
